Verdict is given: 32 year old woman from Minnesota to pay $1.9 million for downloading…. 24 songs.
The case was a retrial after an error took place in 2007. In that case, the final only totaled $220,000. The defendant plans to file for an appeal.
Songs that were downloaded were from artists such as No Doubt, Linkin Park and Sheryl Crow.
Note, these mp3s only have a price tag of $0.99 so fining $80,000 is just crazy. Also note, the charged woman works for an indian tribe in Minnesota. When/how does RIAA expect her to pay?
